The O.P.T. recruiting process
Recruiting is a long game with a lot of moving parts. Here's how we break it into steps you can actually act on.
-
01
Evaluate
We watch your film (or work you out in person) and give you an honest projection of the levels where you can compete, matched against the schools you care about.
-
02
Kickoff with parents
A sit-down with the family on how recruiting works today: the NCAA Eligibility Center, academic requirements, and how roster changes affect high school recruits.
-
03
Build your profile
We clean up and set up your social accounts, then create a digital player profile card with your film, measurables, grades, and contact info, ready to send.
-
04
Target the right schools
Together we build a target list across levels and map out who to contact, what to say, and when to follow up.
-
05
Camps and visits
Not every camp is worth your money. We help you pick the ones where the right college coaches will actually be watching, and plan your visits.
-
06
Track and adjust
We track which programs are showing interest, send progress updates every two weeks, and check in by phone and Zoom to adjust the plan.
-
07
Decide with confidence
When offers and opportunities come, we help you compare fit, cost, playing time, and academics so the family can make the call together.
-
08
Keep developing
Recruiting follows performance. Pair your plan with O.P.T. private training to keep improving your film and testing numbers.
What to focus on, grade by grade
Recruiting doesn't start senior year. Here's a general roadmap; your plan gets tailored to your position, level, and goals.
9
Freshman
- Set up a clean, football-focused X account and bio
- Tell your high school coach your college goals
- Make grades a priority from day one
- Start a strength program or stay multi-sport
- Save your best clips for a first highlight reel
10
Sophomore
- Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center
- Build a short highlight film from varsity snaps
- Update your bio with height, weight, GPA, and class year
- Choose a few camps where college coaches attend
- Start a target list across levels
11
Junior
- The big year: your junior film matters most
- Post your film and NCAA ID; pin your highlight
- Reach out to and follow up with interested coaches
- Attend junior days, spring practices, and summer camps
- Offers may start; if not, keep working the plan
12
Senior
- Send senior film to the programs showing interest
- Follow up after every gameday visit
- Take visits and compare offers as a family
- Finish academics and paperwork for signing
- No offers yet? We'll map out every remaining option
Every level is a real opportunity
The goal is the right fit athletically, academically, and financially, not just the biggest logo.

How we work
What you can count on
Honest feedback, even when it's not what you want to hear. A plan built around your film, your grades, and your goals. And a coach you can call when a college reaches out and you're not sure what to say.
What we won't do
We don't promise scholarships or offers, because no one honestly can. We don't blast your info to thousands of coaches. College coaches recruit players; our job is to make sure you're ready, visible, and prepared when they look.
Recruiting questions
When should we get started?
The earlier the better. Freshman and sophomore year give you time to build grades, film, and relationships, but we work with athletes in every grade, including seniors.
Not sure which package is right?
Start with the 1-hour consultation. You'll leave with a clear picture of where you stand, and you can decide on ongoing support from there.
Is the monthly option a contract?
No. Monthly Guidance bills $300 each month until you cancel, and you can cancel anytime by emailing Coach Zac. Annual Guidance is paid once and saves $450.
Do I have to train with O.P.T. to use recruiting services?
No, recruiting services stand on their own. Many athletes pair them with private sessions to improve their film and testing numbers.
Do you work with every position?
Yes. Evaluations and plans are position-specific, from linemen to quarterbacks to specialists.
Are parents involved?
Absolutely. Parents are part of the kickoff meeting and welcome on every call, and we'll walk you through eligibility, visits, and comparing offers.
Can you guarantee a scholarship?
No one can guarantee that. What we provide is an honest evaluation, a plan, and help presenting yourself to the programs where you have a real shot.
