Defensive back training to lock it down.
Backpedal, transitions and ball skills for cornerbacks and safeties, coached one-on-one so every DB can cover and tackle in space.
Coach Zac Saleski played professionally in the Arena League and the CFL. Today he coaches back-to-back national champion Ohio State Club Football and was named NCFA Assistant Coach of the Year.
What we work on
Every session starts with where your defensive back is now and builds the footwork and eyes that keep receivers covered.
Backpedal and transitions
A low, controlled pedal and quick breaks forward, sideways and into a turn and run.
Press coverage
Jamming at the line, mirroring the release and staying in phase down the field.
Off and zone coverage
Eye discipline, reading the quarterback and breaking on the throw.
Ball skills
Tracking the ball, high-pointing it and turning pass breakups into interceptions.
Open-field tackling
Angles, breaking down in space and finishing tackles safely.
Route recognition
Learning route concepts and splits so you see the route before it develops.

Defensive back questions
Do you train both cornerbacks and safeties?
Yes. Sessions are built around the position, so corners focus more on man coverage and safeties more on reads, range and tackling.
My son keeps getting beat deep. Can you help?
Usually. Getting beat deep often comes from eyes in the wrong place or a slow transition, and both improve with focused reps.
Can receivers and DBs train together?
Yes. A group session is a great way to get real one-on-one reps against a receiver.
Can you help my defensive back get recruited?
Yes. See recruiting services for consultations and ongoing guidance.
